Qaddoumi: Jospin ignores details of peace process in the area

Farouk Qaddoumi, head of the political department of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, stated that what happened to French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin in the Palestinian territories was his fault after Jospin depicted Hizbullah in Lebanon as terrorists.

He said that Jospin affirmed with these declarations that he ignores the area and the peace process and that the Palestinian people handled the matter according what they saw as proper in supporting the Lebanese people.

Following his return from Syria, Qaddoumi said that Syria refused coordination because the Palestinians themselves are the ones that abandoned Arab coordination (with regard to Israel).

He said that Syria would welcomes coordination if there is a political basis for it because the stage accomplished by the Palestinian - Israeli negotiation track stopped at the central issues in the Palestinian cause, which are the refugee issue, Jerusalem, the settlements, the borders and water.
