Moroccan Premier, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, arrived in New Delhi Monday for a four-day official visit at the invitation of Indian peer, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Youssoufi, who was given an official welcome by Vajpayee, told the press Morocco sees India as one of its major partners. "We expect to give a strong boost to our relations," he said.

The Moroccan premier is expected to be the guest of a dinner banquet to be hosted this Tuesday by Indian President K.R.M. Narayanan.

India is Morocco's third client and 30th supplier. Morocco recorded in 1997 its best external trade surplus with India ($ 332 million).

Phosphates and by-products dominate Morocco's exports to India.

The two countries agreed during the visit Atal Bihari Vajpayee paid to Morocco in February 1999 to open new perspectives of cooperation, especially in the fields of industry, finance, railway transport, handicraft, energy and telecommunications.
