Arab source: a Zionist plan against Syria

A high-ranking Arab source told the Lebanese magazine al-Sheraa that he fears that behind Israel's unilateral withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories is a "Zionist plan against Syria" to impose a siege on it similar to that imposed on Iraq.

The Arab source explained his fears by saying, "An Israeli withdrawal from south Lebanon without having agreement with Syria on complete withdrawal from the Golan will not halt the armed resistance against the enemy, a matter which gives Israel the opportunity to strike the Lebanese infrastructure as well as the Syrian forces in Lebanon, a situation which will escalate military tension that will push Israel towards the UN Security Council, claiming its implementation of UN resolution 425 and holding Syria responsible, calling for imposing sanctions on it and as a result putting some of its areas under air embargo."
