Egypt resents Israeli aggression against Lebanon
Presidential Political Advisor Osama Al-Baz wrapped up a three-day visit to Bahrain at the invitation of Bahraini Information and Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Motawa.
Baz delivered a lecture before a seminar organized by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature during which he spoke of the latest developments of the peace process in the Middle East.
He also had talks with senior state officials on bilateral ties and a host of current Arab issues. Baz said Egypt will exert intensive efforts with all parties concerned of the Middle East peace process to get out from the deadlocked situation resulting from Israeli mal practices.
"Egypt will also hold contacts with the US, the EU and other parties concerned," he expounded. Baz also expressed Egypt's resentment regarding recent Israel aggressions against Lebanon, causing much damage to the Lebanese people. Baz also voiced hope in improving peace process atmosphere along with rebuilding confidence.
"Israel's practices cast a lot of doubts on its intentions, especially after her talks with the Syrians and Palestinians have reached full standstill," he stressed. "Israel should pay much attention to the dangers of such a situation and its negative impact," he said, stressing that Israel ought to search for the reasons behind the stalemate of talks on the Syrian and Palestinian tracks.
Baz met with Emir of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Bin Isa and Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa to discuss a number of various Arab issues. In Statements to Bahraini Satellite TV, Baz said that the Israelis would eventually accept coexisting with a Palestinian state particularly as the Israel Labor Party dropped objections to Palestinian State.
On holding an Arab Summit meeting, the Egyptian official said that the Iraqi issue hinders holding the meeting, noting that some countries object to the Iraqi participation and that this issue and an agenda should be sorted out.
On the Sudanese issue, he said that the Egyptian-Libyan initiative runs parallel to efforts exerted by the Inter Governmental Authority for Development (IGAD). He underlined that Egypt neither forces the Sudanese to accept things nor interferes in their internal affairs.
Baz said that Egypt does its best to help Somalia to maintain stability in the Horn of Africa. He regretted interference of other countries in Somalia's affairs.
