$7.1 million from European Union to Mauritania
The European Union gave Mauritania a donation of $7.1 million to purchase a maritime ship to monitor the pollution on Mauritania's shores and to help guide fisherman to fishing areas with its modern maritime equipment .
The ship, the fourth presented by the European group, enjoys the ability to sail for four days without refueling.
Mauritania owns the largest fish reserves among the Arab states, yet it suffers from weakness of observation on the shores which contributes to increased plundering of these natural resources.
