Moroccan MP loses case against journalists
The court of appeals of Casablanca rejected the libel case lodged by Mahmoud Archane, a member of the parliament, against two Moroccan journalists, Nabil Benabdellah, head of Al Bayane daily and Narjis Reghaye, a journalist at the same paper.
The court sentenced the leader of the Democratic and Social Movement "MDS" to pay the case expenses and rejected the case as unacceptable.
Archane was suing the two journalists for a story published in Al Bayane, daily of the leftist Party for Progress and Socialism.
Archane is also being sued by Narjis Reghaye and her newspaper in Rabat for a libelous story published by his party's mouthpiece "La Voix Du Centre" but the trial has been repeatedly postponed as the MP is refusing to appear before the court, invoking his parliamentary immunity.
