Moroccan finance minister elected president of Jerusalem fund governing board
Moroccan Finance Minister Fathallah Oualalou was elected president of the governing board of Bayt Mal Al-Quds (Jerusalem fund), which held its first meeting Monday in Marrakesh. Oualalou said in an address before the meeting that several projects will start to be implemented shortly to preserve the architectural and civilizational landmarks of the holy city of Al-Quds and alleviate the sufferings of the Palestinian inhabitants.
Oualalou called for popular fund raising campaigns to back the holy city.
The fund was set up in 1995, upon the initiative of the Late King Hassan II, to seek funding sources to preserve the holy city of Al-Quds against Israel's attempts to obliterate its Arab and Muslim identity.
