Israel expects resumption of talks with Syria

Originally published

An Israeli diplomatic source in Cairo expected the resumption of the currently-halted negotiations with Syria during the coming weeks, saying that he thinks the current gap between the Syrian and Israeli stances will be bridged, adding that Syria is trying to put Tel Aviv before two choices, returning to the tough long negotiations or consenting to the withdrawal to the borders of June 4, 1967.

The source also said that the Israeli Army will not get out of south Lebanon before the coming summer, saying that the necessary budget for this has not yet been calculated and that there is no time for making preparations for completing the withdrawal.
