Cost of living index increases by 0.7%

The average Cost of living index increased by 0.7% in 1999 compared to the previous year, according to the Statistics Department's newsletter. This increase is essentially due to the 2.1% rise of the index of products other than food. The index of food products decreased by 0.9%. Over the 1990-1999 period, the annual average cost of living index rose by 4.2%.
