Majority of Israelis favor withdrawal from Lebanon, poll

Originally published

A poll made by the Israeli paper Yediot Ahronot said that the majority of Israelis want an Israeli military withdrawal from Lebanon even without a prior agreement with Lebanon or with Syria.

Some 57% of the persons who took part in the poll expressed their support for an immediate pullout from Lebanon even without a proper agreement, 40% refused withdrawal, and 3% did not express any views.

Some 51% of the persons who took part in the questionnaire, which was carried out by Dahaf Institute and covered 509 persons, said that an arrangement for withdrawal from Lebanon should be a condition to continue the negotiations with Syria while 46% said they do not think so and the other 3% had no answer.
