Al-Hoss confers with US ambassador

Originally published

Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss met on Tuesday in Beirut with the US ambassador to Lebanon, David Satterfield.

Discussions dealt with the new Israeli aggressions against Lebanon.

Following the meeting, Satterfield expressed his country's concern over the current situation and its regret over the military escalation which took place in the few past weeks.

He called for exerting tremendous efforts by all sides in order to ease conditions down and to permit the establishment of what he had called the "proper environment" for continuing the peace process.

Satterfield added that the matter is getting more difficult under the continued escalation and violence, stressing that peace should be the objective of all and that peace and violence are not cohesive.

He hoped to halt the acts of violence and said that he had discussed with al-Hoss the damages inflicted on the Lebanese infrastructure and that he will convey that to his government.

Replying to a question, Satterfield denied his knowledge of what had been stated that the US had beforehand known about this Israeli aggression.
