Palestinian Central Council to convene on February 2
Informed Palestinian sources stated that the Palestinian leadership determined February 2 as the date for convening the Palestinian Central Council and that the council's chairmanship has already started to address invitations to the council's 60 members to attend the meeting.
The sources did not exclude in press statements yesterday the participation of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the spiritual leader of the Hamas movement, in the work of the council as a supervisor, asserting that efforts are currently being exerted to provide adequate circumstances for the Palestinian Islamic forces' participation in the meeting.
The sources added, "The agenda of central council focuses on lots of issues, the most prominent of which are the general political situation and the Palestinian - Israeli negotiations in its final conventional part in light of the Israeli obstacles."
