IMF confirms support to Algeria
International Monetary Fund (IMF) Director General, Michael Camdessus, on Thursday confirmed here that the fund would not stop supporting Algeria's efforts for permanent peace, stability and economic growth.
Camdessus told reporters following a meeting with Algerian president Abdelaziz Bouteflika economic growth in Algeria is conditioned with more open and active reforms as well as lasting civil peace that could contribute to stability and encourage foreigners to invest here.
He said IMF sees the conciliation process by Bouteflika as a historic opportunity for Algeria to come out of its crisis and head towards considerate economic growth.
