New round of Turkish-Greek dialogue
Turkey-Greece, Politics, 10/22/1999

The third phase of Turkish - Greek dialogue on the ambassadorial level started in Ankara on Thursday in a tour that will last for two days dealing with prospects of bilateral cooperation in the cultural, environmental, trade and tourism areas.

Meanwhile, the Turkish daily Hurriyet said on Thursday that Turkey has taken measures to prevent the participation of the Greek Cypriot officials as representatives of the whole of the island of Cyprus at the summit of the security and cooperation organization in Europe to be held in Istanbul in the middle of November.

Meanwhile, Doghan Arbash, the lawyer of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan, said following the session of considering the Ocalan case at the court of appeals that his client stressed his "sincere desire to establish peace with Turkey."

In a statement, the lawyer made after the session was postponed until November 25 to issue the final decision in Olacan's case, he said his client played a key role in halting clashes between members of his organization and Turkish security forces, in reference from the side of the lawyer that the "Turkish authorities should avail this chance to establish peace with Turkey." He continued that the PKK members had given up weapons and started to withdraw gradually outside the country, an evidence on the credibility of calls launched by his client.
