Egyptian court issues judgment for Egyptian Ministry of Interior on compensation for Mansour El-Kekhya disappearence
Egypt, Judicial, 4/8/1999
The Egyptian Court of Cassation issued a judgment supporting the Egyptian Ministry of Interiors after a judgment was issued by a preliminary court compensating Baha El-Kekhya, wife of the Libyan opposition member Mansour El-Kekhya, who disappeared in 1993 from the protection of the Egyptian Ministry of Interior.
El-Kekhya wife demanded 100,000 pounds in compensation for financial and moral damage due to her husband's disappearance, and the preliminary court issued its judgment in favor of her demand.
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior appealed the judgment and the Court of Cassation halted it.
The issue will be discussed once more in October, and El-Kekhya wife will not be given the compensation until a new judgment is issued.
The court will not deliver the amount to her except after the final judgment as she does not live inside Egypt.
