Egypt-South Korea, Politics, 3/31/1999

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will start an Asian tour during the coming days that includes South Korea, China and Japan.

Korean officials said they lay a great importance on Mubarak's visit to Seoul which is to start on April 9 to benefit from President Mubarak's capability, experience and international communications in mediations between the two Koreas as well as in easing the tensions between them. Kim Kiong Bo, ambassador of South Korea in Cairo, said that South Korean President Kim Tae-Chung will focus his discussions with President Mubarak on this subject to resume the message he sent to President Mubarak regarding this matter, carried by Primer Minister Kim Chong-pil during his visit to Cairo last February.

The Korean ambassador said Mubarak's visit to Seoul has a great importance on the economic level especially as it comes following the development projects in Egypt and the remarkable growth achieved by the Egyptian economy.

Chinese diplomatic sources in Cairo said that the program of Mubarak's visit to China will be full, as the president will be escorted by high-level Egyptian ministers, officials and businessmen and that Mubarak will address Egypt's economic policy, international relations and the bilateral ties between Egypt and China.
