Experts to discuss issues on Islam and ecology in Indonesia

A number of foreign Islamic experts are scheduled to discuss environmental issues in a meeting "Islam and Ecology," here on March 11, Indonesian news agency ANTARA reported.
The meeting is designed as an information exchange forum, particularly in formulating Islamic concepts on ecology and environmental issues, said a press release from Bandung-based Padjajaran University made available for ANTARA here Tuesday.
Among the speakers are Dr Alwi Shihab from the Center for the Study of World Religions, Harvard University, Fazlun Khalid, the Director of the Islamic Foundation for Ecology and Environmental Science, University of Birmingham, England, and Prof Dr Emil Salim, former environmental minister.
