Son of Shiekh Omar Abdul Rahman accuses Israel of Luxor attack
Egypt, Politics, 11/24/1997

Abd El-Allah Abdl El-Rahman accused the Israeli Mossad of planning the terrorist attack that took place a week ago in south Egypt, in which 60 tourists were killed. Rahman's father, Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman, is the leader of the Moslem Brotherhood in Egypt who is serving a life sentence in an American prison.

Abd El-Rahman said that it's possible that the Mossad had charged persons who are affiliated to him by implementing the process.

Abd El-Allah was surprised by the statement of Al Gamaat Islamya who claimed responsibility for the Luxor attack. The statement said that the Moslem Brotherhood aimed to take tourists as hostages to use in negotiations for the release of Omar Abdel Rahman.

The son of Sheikh Omar Abd El-Rahman said he was not associated with the brotherhood's demands, "I'm dealing with the case of United State's bad treatment to Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman in prison and the deterioration of his health, for he's my father. And I'm making use of legitimate methods such as judiciary, mass media, and public speech to ask for his release, and pressuring the United States to achieve this."

Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman issued a statement from prison in which he asked for a halt to the violence that was launched by the leaders and supporters of those who are in jail as a result of the case of the assassination of the Egyptian president Anwar Sadat.
