International Ottoman Archaeology Conference in Tunisia

Egypt will participate in the International Ottoman Archaeology Conference starting in the city of Zagwan in Tunisia this week. Egypt will be represented by five professors and experts in archaeology, history, and the arts. The Egyptian professors will submit papers concerning the Ottoman influence on the Islamic structure and arts as well as its influence on building the vaulted mosques that were widespread in the Ottoman era and that were characterized by richness and craftsmanship. Papers will also deal with ways of restoring and protecting these archaeological sites.
Dr. Abdel Galil Al Namimi, the conference speaker, declared that the conference will continue for a week and researchers from all over the world will participate. Professor Abdel Raouf El Mahbouly, Dean of Tunis University will also attend the conference.
