Tunisia, Egypt and talks of trade zone
Tunisia-Egypt, Economics, 9/8/1997
A high-level Tunisian economic delegation chaired by the undersecretary of the minister of trade will arrive Cairo in mid-October to complete negotiations with Egyptian officials on establishing a free trade zone between the two countries.
The negotiations came within the final formula of the draft project between the two countries to be signed at beginning of 1998, said the head of information office at the Egyptian embassy in Tunisia, Omar Mahsob.
The idea of establishing such a trade zone emerged from the meetings of the joint higher committee headed by prime ministers of the two countries.
The volume of trade between the two countries in 1996 reached LE 70 million (about 20 million US dollars), Al Wafd daily said today.
