Iran - Egypt ties stressed over support for the Palestinians
Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said the Hague-based International Criminal Court and other respective bodies should investigate the crimes Israel has systematically perpetrated against defenseless Palestinians.
He made the remarks in a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Fathi Sorour which took place in Geneva at the sideline of the 121st General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
"The Islamic world expected Egypt to move ahead of all other Islamic nations in taking firm position on the issue of Palestine when the US is doing all in its means to reinforce Israeli dominance over the region and is trying to saw discord among Muslim nations to achieve the goal," Larijani said.
Larijani said Iran regarded Egypt as an influential and important country in the region and was interested in enhanced ties with it.
The Egyptian Minister referred to unity as the most basic element Islamic states needed and said his country was looking forward instead of focusing on issues of the past. He voiced his country's interest in restoring relations with Iran.
