Previously abducted Egyptian blogger harassed by police
Egypt, Politics, 6/1/2009
The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI) spoke of the threats by State Security agents to blogger Dia Eddin Gad, owner of the blog "Angry voice" ( http://soutgadeb.blogspot.com ), who was previously abducted on 6 February 2009, and released on 27 March 2009, and whose family was frequently threatened when he did not go to meet the security officers every once in a while.
The blogger has received many phone calls from the State Security officers ordering him to meet with them. He received one of these phone calls while he was at ANHRI and the Executive Director of the Network answered the phone call in which the State Security officer repeated his threat; asking Dia to go to them "for his own good."
ANHRI said that, "The abstention of the Public Prosecution from conducting any investigation on the officers who abducted Dia Gad last February, although a report was submitted to them, encouraged the officers to continue the police harassment against the young blogger, in addition to the pressures exerted on his family, which turned his life into a 'burning hell', as he said."
ANHRI repeats its lawful demand that the Public Prosecution conduct a serious investigation into the abduction of Dia, which passed over without punishment, let alone the constant threats by the security organs against him and his family.
