Five Iranian truck drivers killed in Iraq
Iraq-Iran, Politics, 4/16/2007
Spokesman of Iran's foreign ministry yesterday evening strongly condemned the killing of five Iranian truck drivers who were transporting fuel for the Iraqis in the Iraqi city of Baghubeh.
Mohammad-Ali Hosseini called it an inhuman, criminal and anti-Islamic act, noting that three of the martyred drivers were Sunni people from "Bandar-e-Gaz" and "Turkman-Sahra" and two others were of Shiites denomination.
He said the unified efforts of Iranian Muslim people in human assistance to the Iraqi nation and government is indicative of the fact that they act in obedience to the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Leader in the framework of national unity and Islamic coherence.
He stressed that such criminal acts happen at a time when the foreign occupying forces not only take hostage Iranian diplomats and make false claims, but are also blatantly negligent and insensitive towards lack of security in Iraq. He added that their position does not help improve security and stability in Iraq but sets the stage for worsening the crisis in the neighboring country.
