Haniyeh: Palestinians never to recognize Israel legitimacy
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 12/9/2006

Palestinian Prime Minister Esmaeil Haniyeh said yesterday, We would never recognize the usurper Israeli regime as a legitimate state.

Addressing Tehrani worshipers before Tehran Friday Prayers, Haniyeh reiterated, "We, as the trusted guardians of the land of Palestine, will not abandon our Jihadi campaign till full liberation of the Holy Qods (Jerusalem) and the entire occupied Palestine." The popular, embattled Palestinian PM added, "The global arrogance, side by side the Zionists, have staged a comprehensive siege against the oppressed Palestinian nation, asking us to recognize the occupation of our motherland and to abandon our liberation Jihadi resistance, yielding to articles of the formerly signed agreements.

"I hereby declare from this tribune: O Islamic Republic, O Islamic Ummah, those demands would never be fulfilled," said Haniyeh.

He added, "The Americans and the Zionists have assumed that the Palestinian nation is alone, but that is their hallucination, since we are a limb of the Islamic body and our strategic depth is the soil of the strong, long-lasting, and dynamic Islamic Republic of Iran, just as Palestine that is the strategic depth of the great Islamic World." Pointing out that he has a few important points to make in Tehran, the Palestinian PM said, "Firstly, we are standing side by side with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and harmonized with this country we would counter the entirety of the United States and the Zionists, and the pressure imposed by them." He reiterated, "We strongly denounce the US occupation of Iraq and ask for unity among Iraqi nation and territorial integrity of Iraq." The Palestinian Prime Minister added, "I wish victory for the resistance force in Iraq and that they would manage to force the occupiers to leave their land." Haniyeh at the end expressed hope that the world Muslims' unity and solidarity would pave the path for full liberation of the Holy Qods and Palestine, adding, "In our Jihad and resistance we would not yield to give away even an inch of our motherland, and keep chanting the main slogan of our selfless campaign: Either victory, or martyrdom."

Recognizing Israel was supposed to be one of the subjects of inter-Palestinian negotiations in which the Palestinian president was seen to be pressing for PM Haniyeh, meaning Hamas, to recognize Israel, by having Haniyeh agree to so-called Quartet group, mainly led by the US, to meet its conditions.

Meantime, ABC News reported today the Abbas, because of the Hamas position, has threatened he may call for early election, adding that Hamas disputes his legal rights to do so.
