US joint maneuvers in Persian Gulf dangerous: source

An informed source in Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has described the US military maneuvers next week in cooperation with Bahrain and Kuwait as dangerous.

The source, speaking in condition of anonymity, said that joint Bahrain and Kuwait maneuvers accompanied by foreigners are suspicious and provocative. He added that the joint maneuvers are not in line with security and stability of the Persian Gulf.

The source called the maneuvers "provocative" and aimed at weakening economic and trade development as well as fomenting crisis in the region. Regional states should depend on native sources, boost security and political cooperation among nations of GCC as well as Iran and Iraq which is dubbed (6+2) as well as not pay attention to the US neo-conservatives' war-mongering policies. Pointing to Washington's efforts to hold joint maneuvers in cooperation with the regional countries, he added that the US inappropriate measures in invading Iraq and Afghanistan as well as Israeli forces' defeat in war against Hizbullah have tarnished their image in the view of world nations.

"The defeat in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon recalls the US experience in Vietnam in the 1970s, and American citizens and tax-payers have objected to Bush's administration's diplomacy around the world." According to the source, the US initiated the make-believe maneuvers to divert public opinion from its criminal acts, and it wants to satisfy some regional officials to reduce pressures against neo-conservatives to win the upcoming election. He stipulated that expansionist countries showed that they helped the US and Israel in realizing their plots in the Middle East, adding, these countries are accomplice in the massacres of Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon's people.
