Seven Palestinians in Gaza killed by Israel
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 8/31/2006

Israeli troops killed seven Palestinians in two air raids and direct shooting in Gaza yesterday, Palestinian hospital said.

Among those killed was a 14-year-old boy who was shot dead as he gathered with a group of people to watch Israeli army incursion.

Palestinian youths, mostly boys, often gather to watch Israeli troops undertake incursions in the Gaza Strip, despite the obvious dangers.

A 30-year-old man was killed by a heavy caliber bullet to the head as he was on the rooftop of his house.

Troops also flattened crops, destroyed greenhouses and chicken coops and uprooted dozens of trees, local people said.

In recent years, troops have routinely destroyed farming areas and orchards in Gaza, what they say to deprive Palestinian gunmen of cover.

Meantie, Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit strongly condemned Israel's attack on Al-Shujayiah neighborhood of Gaza on Wednesday, which left nine Palestinians dead, in addition to ten others killed Tuesday in Gaza and the West Bank.

Abul-Gheit questioned the world's silence regarding what he said was an ongoing campaign to kill and destroy the Palestinian people.

Israeli's violence during the last two months has claimed the lives of more than 200 Palestinians, including 44 children, not to mention the larger numbers of those injured and harmed, the top diplomat said in press statements.

He called on the world community to live up to its responsibilities and guarantee that protection was provided for the Palestinian people under occupation.

Abul-Gheit said that the Israeli military escalation was unacceptable and would not achieve peace for the Israelis.

Violence will only bring about further violence, he told reporters.
