Cleric urges Muslims, oppressed to support Lebanese resistance
Lebanon-Regional, Politics, 7/14/2006

Iran's Substitute Friday prayers leader of Tehran Ayatollah Mohammad Emami-Kashani today called on the world Muslims and the oppressed to support Lebanese Hizbullah and resistance.

Delivering his second Friday prayers sermon, Ayatollah Kashani also urged the international community to condemn the Israeli regime's aggressions on Palestine and Lebanon over the past couple of days, calling the atrocities as the "painful issue" gripping the community of Muslims.

Terming as "fully legal and legitimate, and in accordance with conscience and norms" the move of Lebanese Hizbullah in setting freedom of all the Lebanese captives from the Israeli jails as the condition for the release of two Israeli kidnapped soldiers, Ayatollah Kashani supported the Lebanese right of self-defense.

"God Almighty in Holy Quran labels aggression as something bad and condemns it. God does not like the aggressor. God says, however, if someone attacks you, you will have the right to launch counter- attack," said the Ayatollah.

The cleric praised resistance of the Lebanese Hizbullah, saying braveries of the Hizbullah forces should be admired and praised.

He said that Hizbullah forces are "unsparingly standing the Zionists," considering it as their religious and patriotic duty.

Elsewhere in his sermon, Ayatollah Kashani criticized the US and the west for supporting the Israeli regime.

"The US and the western states are condemning Hizbullah because they too are like the Zionist regime."
