Parliament condemns Israeli killing of two Egyptian policemen
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 6/12/2006

Egypt's People's Assembly condemned yesterday the killing of two policemen by Israeli soldiers on June 2 on the international borders between Egypt and Israel.

MPs called for expelling the Israeli ambassador in Cairo and reconsidering the peace agreement between Egypt and Israel.

"The killing of the two policemen raised questions about the peace agreement and whether Israel respected its terms," Head of the Arab Affairs Committee Saad el-Gammal said.

He hit out at the "deliberate provocations" by Israel, warning Egyptian people were running out of patience.

"All Egyptians are furious at this barbaric and unjustifiable act, which makes it incumbent on the Egyptian diplomacy to take a firm action and closely follow up an international investigation into the incident," he said.

Gammal further blasted Israel for the Gaza beach massacre, which killed seven Palestinians, including children and women.

"This carnage proves that Israel does not want peace and is only misleading the international community into believing that it was seeking peace," he said.

On his part, Abdel Ahad Gamal el-Din, the Leader of the Majority, called on the UN General Assembly to hold an emergency meeting to debate the continued Israeli aggressions.
