Duma member: US, Israel enemies of Iran nuclear program
Iran-Russia, Politics, 4/15/2006

Member of Russian State Duma Victor Alksnis said today that Israel and the United States are real enemies of Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

Speaking to IRNA in an exclusive interview, Alksnis added the US strives to put a cover on its mistakes in Iraq through causing a new crisis in Iran.
He pointed to the White House's insulting attitude in Iraq and said the US is an incorrigible member of the United Nations.

Referring to deep-rooted ties between Iran and Russia, State Duma deputy said that Russia should not allow the US to repeat its scenario in Iraq in the sensitive Middle East region.

He said repetition of the US scenario would be a catastrophe for the Middle East, Central Asia and Caucasus.

Alksnis added the US intends to exert pressure on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to prevent Iran from access to its rights stipulated in Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

It is surprising no state criticized atomic weapons of Israel while it does not recognize Palestine's independence against the UN resolutions and continues massacre of the Palestinians, he said.
