Saudi Arabia: Islamic activist al-Awaji arrested

Men of religion close to the Saudi Arabian advocate Mohsin al-Awaji announced on Monday that the Saudi authorities detained the prominent religious advocate.
This detention came after he had published an article on the Internet in which he said that a liberal groups of ministers and officials are the genuine forces which works behind the curtains and it is in direct contacts with the Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz.
Al-Awaji colleagues said that that police held the Islamic clergy since last Friday and his detention may continue for weeks.
The detention news was published on a site used by Islamists while a spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior denied knowledge that al-Awaji was detained.
