Six marines killed in Iraq

Six American soldiers were killed in a series of attacks in various parts of Iraq during the past 24 hours. On Thursday evening the US army announced the killing of three of its soldiers in Iraq, hours after admitting the killing of other three members of the marines.

In a statement, the American army said that one marine was killed in a bomb explosion when his vehicle was running during his participation in a military operation near al-Baghdadeyah area, west of al-Ramadi, 100 km west of Baghdad.

The statement added that "another soldier from the American navy died in a traffic accident in Qaem area on the Syrian border and a third from the marine was killed by a bomb against his vehicle in al-Anbar governorate."

Thereby number of American soldiers who were killed in Iraq since its invasion in March 2003 increased to at least 2266, according to the statistics of the US defense department.
