Zakaria Abdul Aziz wins Egypt judges presidency
Egypt, Politics, 12/17/2005

Al-Jazeera satellite TV in Cairo said that the candidate of the judges independent trend, advisor Zakaraia Abdul Aziz, won the presidency of the Egyptian Judges Club, which groups Egypt's judges, wile the other candidate who was close from the government advisor Adel al-Shourbaji, did not.

Results of the elections of the 15-member board are not known yet.

However, the elections of the Judges Club constitute a great political challenge on the ground that the success of the judges independent trend means continued confrontations between the Judges Club and the Egyptian government. This confrontation increased during the recent legislative elections in Egypt where judges had the role of monitoring the elections.
