American soldier killed in Iraq; French man kidnaped

The American army said today that one of its soldiers was killed in an attack that targeted a vehicle east of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

In a statement, the Iraqi army said that the American soldier was killed on Sunday in a bomb explosion when his vehicle was running east of Baghdad.

This incident came several days after the killing of 17 American soldiers, ten of them were killed in an attack by blowing an explosive near Falluja city west of Baghdad.

In another development, unidentified gunmen kidnapped today west of Baghdad a French man working in the capita Baghdad.

A security source explained that one armed group stopped a car which was driven by the French engineer in the Iraqi al-Mansour quarters west of Baghdad early morning today and took him to an unknown destination.

This kidnapping operation comes while efforts and calls are being made to release four members of the Christian peace movement. The group gave a grace period until December 8th and threatened to kill the kidnapperd unless its demands are met for the release of the Iraqis held by the Iraqi ministry of the Interior and the American forces.
