Iraq, Military, 11/21/2005

An Iraqi officer announced in Musil that 8 gunmen suspected to be members in al-Qaida organization were killed during fire exchange with a joint Iraqi-American force, while American sources indicated they are working to find out if the leader of al-Qaida organization, Abu Musab al-Zarqari, is among those killed.

A governmental source in Washington said that efforts are being made to know if al-Zarqawi is among the killed while a spokesman for the White House, accompanying President George W. Bush in his Asian tour, ruled out this possibility, noting that the information to this effect is not confirmed.

The colonel in the Iraqi police Ahmad al-Jabouri said that a raid launched by the American forces on a house to the north of the city, after information over the possibility that al-Zarqawi was inside it, adding that three gunmen were killed in the clashes and that 11 American soldiers were injured.
