Iran: Israel is a scar on the United Nations, a terrorist country
Iran-Israel, Politics, 10/31/2005

Iran's Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said on Sunday that Israel is the symbol of disrespect for the United Nations.

IRNA reported: Haddad-Adel told a ceremony marking the martyrdom anniversary of the Leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement Fathi Shaqaqi that Zionist regime's call on the UN for Iran's ouster from the world body's membership is surprising.

"For how long has Israel been thinking of respecting the United Nations?" he asked.

"Which one of the UN resolutions, regarding Zionists' withdrawal from the occupied lands, has the criminal regime implemented thus far that it has today started to think about respecting the UN?" Haddad-Adel said the regime which is the symbol of disrespect for the UN has claimed that Iran, which is itself among the founding members of the world body, should be expelled from it.

He said the regime which has been formed artificially in Palestinian territories wants to deny UN membership of a country which has for thousands of years been the standard bearer of culture and civilization in the world and the poem by one of its poets -- Saadi Shirazi -- has since the beginning been installed on the UN entrance.

He added that inspired by the same thought, Iran will continue to pursue Palestinian aspirations.

The speaker said Palestinian nation's resistance is harbinger of a bright dawn awaiting the dark night created by Zionists, adding that Palestine's future belongs to the Palestinians.

He declared that Zionism is synonymous with aggression, occupation, crime and injustice.

Referring to the West's reaction to recent statement of Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Haddad-Adel said the reactions will help spread anti-Zionist ideology and the world will start to question the words which lead to such reactions.

Lauding Iranian people's high turnout in the World Qods Day rallies, Haddad-Adel said that all those witnessing the World Qods Day rallies in the previous years testify that this year's has been more glorious.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Haddad-Adel said the Jews are not the problem for the Iranian nation and the Muslims, rather, Muslims and Jews have been leading peaceful coexistence for long.

Meantime, IRNA added: President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Sunday the global arrogance strives to officially recognize the entity of an occupier regime.
Ahmadinejad made the remark while addressing thousands of Basij (volunteer forces) students.

He expressed regret over certain media coverage of his recent remarks during a conference dubbed "World Without Zionism" on Wednesday where he recalled a famous statement by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini about the Zionist regime. He quoted the late imam as saying, "The Qods occupying regime must be eliminated from the surface of earth."

Shifting to the Zionist regime's withdrawal from Gaza Strip, Ahmadinejad noted, "They (Israelis) plan to persuade Islamic states under the pretext of Gaza pullout to feel no shame any longer and recognize the Zionist regime.

"I, in my recent speech, said those who do this (recognize Israel), actually stand up to Islamic Ummah and this is an unforgivable crime. Islamic states must not recognize a fake regime, which makes no secret of its terrorist nature."
