Kuwaiti parliamentarians call for protecting a mosque
Kuwait, Politics, 10/10/2005
Two Kuwaiti Shiite parliamentarians asked the authorities to ensure protection for a Shiite mosque which was exposed to an attack last Friday. Parliamentarian Saleh Ashour said that 50 persons, most of them are young people, set fire in a car in front of the mosque in al-Jahra city and threw stones at worshippers.
Ashour added that the gathering raised banners against the Shiites, accusing them of helping the American forces in Iraq, noting that the "minister of the interior deplored the attack and resorting to violence" during the meeting with the two parliamentarians on Saturday.
The Kuwaiti police dispersed the gathering and detained 8 persons and sent them to the attorney general.
