Deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Hussein al-Shahristani, said that an amended draft for the permanent Iraqi constitution was handed over to the UN mission in Baghdad, which will assume its circulation to Iraqi citizens prior to the referendum set for mid October.
He added that the amendments are confined to excerpts including the identity of Iraq, sharing of water resources, and the authorities of the central government and the districts.
According to the amended copy, there are to be two deputies for the prime minister, while article 44 was chopped concerning the right of citizens to enjoy rights approved in international treaties pertinent to human rights that were ratified by Iraq.
