Mrs. Mubarak opens library in Hurghada
Egypt, Education, 8/25/2005
Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak opened Tuesday Mubarak's Public Library in Hurghada. Mrs. Mubarak had a cordial dialogue with a group of the children who were on hand to welcome her at the Library.
Meanwhile, Sudanese politicians and intellectuals representing all political trends called on Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak to open in Khartoum a book fair as part of the "Reading for All Festival" she had been sponsoring for years with a view to spreading culture and knowledge in Sudan.
This came during the inauguration of the first Khartoum International Book Fair, which turned into an event signaling appreciation and recognition of Egypt's educational and cultural role in the Arab world in general and in Sudan in particular.
Egypt's ambassador to Sudan Mohamed Abdel Moneim al-Shazli told a press conference at the Egyptian pavilion that Arab and Islamic cultures started with a call for reading, adding that the exhortation "Read!" was the first command revealed to Prophet Muhammad.
