International airport in Suleimaneyah

The international airport of al-Suleimaneyah was inaugurated on Wednesday by receiving the first Iraqi plane of the Iraqi airlines coming from Amman, carrying an official delegation.

Al-Itihad paper, mouthpiece of the Kurdistani national union party said that the Iraqi President Jalal Talibani opened the airport in official celebration, in the presence of senior officials in the two main Kurdish parties.

The first plane landed, having on its board the two ministers of planning Barham Saleh and the transport minister Salaam al-Maliki. The first air flight between Iraq's Kurdistan and Amman took place on February 9th when one pane for the Iraqi airline took off from Irbil airport towards Amman.
