How low in its immorality can Israel go; never be surprised
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 5/28/2005
A member of the Palestinian Ezz Eddine al-Qassam group, the military wing of the Hamas movement, was killed and other three injured in a vague explosion to the north of Gaza.
The group said in a statement that "martyr Baker Mustafa Hammoudeh was killed while carrying out his national duty." On the other hand, scores of the citizens of Bel'in village, to the west of Ramullah, took part in a demonstration headed towards the site of the wall of separation installed by Israel in the village.
Many of the participants in the demonstration were carrying coffins and scarfs around their necks in a symbolic sign to that the this wall of separation frustrates the hopes and ambitions of the Palestinians and threatens their future. The demonstration started after Friday s prayers and was confronted by the Israeli soldiers to prevent the demonstrators from approaching towards the wall site.
In Gaza, one Israeli military source said that one explosion targeted one Israeli military vehicle near Beit Hanoun crossing. No casualties were reported.
Meantime, the Israelis, who have become so immune from world pressure and having to obey international law of the United Nations resolutions, due to the veto power and support of the United States in this organization, are so brazen in their oppression of the Palestinians and in flaunting their military power that they do not even make the attempt to even seem respectful of the liberty of Palestinians, who are occupied and subjugated by Israel. Israel, a country that looks at itself as a "Jewish" nation, supposedly born out of the suffering Jews faced by Nazis and others, where Jews has made a moral business out of the suffering they have faced, have and continue to act with impunity as a brutal and ruthless occupier and oppressor of the Palestinians.
In a very telling sign of how numb and desensitized by propaganda the Israelis are to feeling any morality when it comes to the Palestinians, the UK's "The Guardian" daily reported today that Israeli soldiers forced their way into a Palestinian occupied home in order to watch a soccer game reporting that a Palestinian youth, Anan al-Zrayer, said that "he was stopped in the West Bank town of Hebron by (Israeli) soldiers who asked if his family had satellite television," after which the Israeli soldiers "forced the family out of the living room and settled down" to watch the soccer game. The Israeli TV reported the incident and showed damage to furniture in the house.
In defense of the Israeli soldiers' actions, "The (Israeli) military confirmed that the five soldiers and the commander took over the house to watch the match (of soccer) but said they only stayed for a few minutes, and did not break anything," the Guardian reported quoting the Israeli TV.
Some will expect that as the result of the publicity of such an incident, Israel will start an investigation into the incident, and will thus reaffirm how moral Israel is as an occupier and oppressor. This comes as the strongest supporters of Israel in the United States, in their newly found motto, proclaim that America's goals should be liberty and freedom, while they continue their support of Israel, and its so-called "right of self defense" against Palestinians and Palestinian and Arab "terrorists" who fight the Israeli occupation. It is interesting how quite and apologetic Jews in the US and the world, and the US citizens in support of Israel, are about condemning what has been described as Israeli "state terrorism" in its extrajudicial killings, in its stealing of Palestinian lands and intentionally destroying their economic infrastructure and businesses to deprive them of livelihood, and its occupation of other Arab lands, such as Syria's, where Israel accuses these countries of supporting "terrorists," a label that has become popular along with the "anti-semitic" label to use to deligitimize those who speak against Israel's occupation and acts.
Worth noting that there are some Jews who support the Palestinians in their struggle to gain freedom from Israeli occupation and condemn Israel for its oppression of a whole nation, and its hegemonic policy in the region.
