Damietta furniture exports hit $100 million
Egypt, Economics, 5/26/2005

"Damietta governorate's furniture exports have continuously grown, now reaching US$100 million annually," announced Governor Mohamed Fathi el-Baradei.

Speaking at a meeting with the board of directors of the Development Furniture Association in Damietta, el-Baradei stated that the manufacture modernizing program implemented in Damietta governorate has contributed significantly to increasing exports.

The program has included training courses in France to educate workers in the most up-to-date production methods in the furniture industry.

At the meeting, the Association's members called for increasing furniture exports and opening new world markets for Damietta furniture.

The governor added that the Association is now organizing educational trips to Spain and France in order to learn more about modern manufacturing methods.
