The statement urged the Egyptian government, which supervised the dialogue between the Palestinian groups, to take its due role to carry out the legislative elections at the set time.
Hamas's statements came after the call made by the secretary general of the Palestinian Presidency Abdul Raheem on Thursday to postpone the elections for legal and political reasons which he described as logical, noting that the introduction to amending the election law which will be approved by the legislative council states to amend the constitution of the Palestinian authority.
However, parliamentarians at the Palestinian legislative council say that the Fatah movement, which dominates the parliament, hopes to postpone the elections so as to be able to launch it in a better atmosphere after it had recently won the municipal elections.
