23 Iraqis killed, 90 injured in Friday's explosions

The number of persons killed in Friday's explosions in Iraq increased to 23 persons, while the number of injured increased to 90 in the last account of the victims of the booby trapped car explosions which shook the Iraqi capital Baghdad and al-Madayen area to the south of Baghdad.
These attacks came after the Iraqi parliament voted confidence for the new Iraqi government chaired by Ibrahim al-Jaafari.
A source at the Iraqi ministry of the interior said that number of killed in the explosion of three booby trapped car in al-Madayen area increased from five to nine while the number of the injured from 14 to 35.
The source stressed earlier that the three explosions targeted "police patrols and the telecommunications staff department in al-Madayen. In al-Azameyah quarters in Baghdad, the security sources explained that the killed persons are seven members of the Iraqi national guards, four policemen, one soldier and 7 civilians.
News reports said that one Kurdish security man was killed on the way to Irbil to the north of Iraq and two soldiers were injured in a bomb explosion implanted on the roadside in Bin Sawallah area.
On the other hand, the chairman of the Sunni Waqf department, Adnan al-Duleimi, stressed on Friday the killing of Sheikh Rahim Ali Jum'a, the Imam of Noufel mosque in Sakher village in al-Miqdadeyah quarters ( 80 Km to the northern east of Baghdad) after two mortars shelling fell at his house.
He said that forces of the Iraqi interior forces and the national guards detained four Sunni Mosques Imam in various areas in Baghdad's quarters.
