Continued fighting in Iraqi, one American soldier was killed

One American soldier was killed and 13 members of the Iraqi security forces including two senior officers were also killed during the 24 past hours in operations most of them concentrated against the security forces.
In a statement, the American army announced the killing of one of its soldiers and injuring other three in a bomb explosion near Baqouba city to the north of Baghdad yesterday afternoon.
Also in Baqouba three soldiers of the Iraqi national guards were killed and other three were injured in a bomb explosion.
Two police officers were killed and other two injured in an ambush implanted by gunmen against their procession which was carrying suspected gunmen.
In the capital Baghdad, two Iraqi colonels were killed together with two soldiers in an attack launched by gunmen against their car in al-Kazemeyah street in Baghdad. Two other officers were killed at the hands of unidentified gunmen in al-Amereyah area to the west of Baghdad.
In another attack, the Iraqi police said that a police commissioner was killed at the hands of gunmen in al-Shaab area to the east of Baghdad while he was touring the markets. Gunmen also attacked a colonel in the Iraqi national guard in al-Khales area to the southern east part of Baghdad and this also led to the killing of his daughter who was with him.
Three Iraqis including one soldier were killed in various incidents took place near al-Dajim and al-Sherqat, and Sameraa to the north of Baghdad, according to sources in the Iraqi police.
Meantime, security sources said that five Iraqi soldiers including one Maj. were kidnapped on Monday in Samera. A group calling itself Abu Anas al-Shami contingent claimed responsibility for the kidnapping operation in a statement circulated by gunmen.
