Ali Islam: Egypt denies banned nuclear activity

Egypt denied on Sunday carrying out any banned nuclear activity, Vowing continued cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog in mutual confidence and transparency."
"Egypt is fully committed to the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT), which was signed in 1982, "said National Atomic Energy Agency chief Ali Islam.
Islam dismissed recent press claims on Egypt's nuclear capabilities, saying his agency "has been dedicated all along the past 40 years to carrying out researches that serve the society."
Islam said all inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency teams have found all nuclear facilities in Egypt are used for peaceful purposes.
Meantime, Egypt reiterated that the Egyptian nuclear program had absolutely nothing to hide, adding that foreign media reports to the contrary were aimed at putting pressure on some international employees to prevent renewal of their services.
