Europe discusses lifting the sanctions from Libya

The European Union announced yesterday that it is discussing lifting the sanctions partially from Libya and added it inclined towards alleviating the weapons embargo to this country. This was upon the US announcement ending trade embargo on Tripoli.
The spokeswoman for the EU, Emma Eidwin, said that the European ambassador will be meeting later this week to decided if they will abide by the UN Security Council resolution of 2003 to lift all sanctions imposed on Tripoli. She indicated that the EU 25 ambassadors will discuss an Italian proposal to alleviate weapons embargo on Libya imposed since 1986, with the aim to permit Tripoli to buy high- tech equipment in order to prevent illegal immigration to Europe via the Libyan territorial and water borders.
She continued that the EU wants from the ambassador to relate the Italian proposal with dispatching a technical team to Tripoli. The agreement which was reached in 2003. She hinted that the team will discuss with the Libyan authorities proposals to cooperate in fighting illegal immigration by all its forms.
