11 Palestinians killed in Israeli operations in the West Bank
Palestine-Israel, Military, 9/16/2004

At least four Palestinians were killed in a raid carried out by the Israeli occupation forces yesterday against Jenin city in the West Bank, according to medical and security sources.

This came hours after the killing of 7 Palestinians including one girl during a military operation carried out by the Israeli occupation forces yesterday in Nablus to the north of the West Bank.

Medical sources said that the occupation forces reinforced by tanks and planes clashed with five of the killed Palestinians who were fortified in one building in the old town before it was bombarded.

Security sources said that six bodies for Palestinian activists and an 11 year old girl named Maram al-Nahila were found after the withdrawal of the occupation army from the old city. Ten persons were injured during the operation, one of them is in a critical health condition.

The sources added that the killed Palestinians are members in al-Aqsa groups of the Palestine national liberation movement ( Fatah), including Nader al-Aswad, one of the wanted persons by the Israelis and Molhem Abu Jamila, Abboud Salem, Muhammad Mir'e and Hani al-Aqqad of the Democratic Front.

The mother of one of the killed Palestinian said that her son phoned her during the clashes with the Israeli soldiers and told her that he and five of his friends did not have enough weapons.

On the other hand, the Israeli army bombarded yesterday at dawn a house for the family of a Palestinian who carried out on Tuesday an operation near Qalqilya city and resulted in wounding two Israeli soldiers.

On the other hand, the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon said that his government does not abide by the Roadmap which was approved in 2003.

The Israeli daily Yadhout Ahronot quoted Sharon as saying that Israel might not withdraw much of its forces from the Palestinian territories after implementing the withdrawal plan from Gaza and certain settlements in the West Bank.

On the withdrawal plan, the chairman of the compensation office said that 100 families from the settlers headed to the evacuation office and expressed their readiness to leave the place in return for getting compensations.
