O Yahya to re-form the Algerian government; Benflis resigned the liberation front

An Algerian official source said that the prime minister Ahmad O Yahya who submitted his resignation yesterday to Butaflika, was assigned to form the government. The Republic's presidency explained that O Yahya will start " immediately his consultations" to form his new government's team.

On the other hand, the spokesman for the secretary general of the national liberation front Party Ali BenFlis, Ali Maimouni said that the secretary general ( Benflis) quit his post following his failure in the Presidential elections.

Maimouni told reporters that Benflis submitted his resignation in an emergency meeting for the party's central committee. He said " The committee accepted his resignation. A committee was formed in charge of making contacts with all sides concerned in order to prepare for a conference."
