Iraq-USA, Politics, 4/10/2004
The American administrator of Iraq, Paul Bremer, said yesterday he had appointed member of the governing council Sami al-Sumeida'ei as a new minister of the interior and his colleague Muwaffaq al-Rubei as an advisor for national securty.
Bremer explained that al-Sumeid'ei, a Sunni, will replace the designed minister Nouri al-Badran, who is Shiite. The post of the advisor for national security affairs which will be assumed by the ( Shiite) al-Rubei'ei was established recently.
Al-Badran announced on Thursday his resignation, noting that Bremer is not " satisfied with the work of the ministry." al-Badran added that Bremer considers it is necessary that the Shiite will not assume the two posts of the ministries of the interior and the defence ministry which is assumed by Ali Allawi, who is also a Shiite.
