Five security men were injured in clashes in Upper Egypt

Five police men were at least wounded on Thursday evening following confrontations between the security forces and villagers in al-Nukheila town situated in Upper Egypt.
A security source said yesterday morning that the policemen entered the village since Wednesday evening to detain certain citizens accused of being involved in revenge operations and smuggling of drugs.
The source added that security forces decided to interfere after one family member in the village killed five persons from one of the largest families in the village in a revenge case.
Witnesses said they had heard an intensive fire on Friday in this big village in Asyout province. The source explained that entering al-Nakhila village is forbidden since the beginning of the confrontation, noting that it is besieged by a large security forces and tanks.
The Egyptian daily al-Akhbar said that that security forces campaign started four days ago and that 80 armored vehicles and 30 boats besiege the area which is taken by outlaws from Awlad Hanafi family as a center for drugs plantation after they had confiscated hundreds of dunnums of lands. The paper also added that the outlaws group also detained 250 persons from the village citizens as hostages to be used as human shields in confrontation with the police.
The sources said that the group which is led by Izzat Muhammad Hamid ( 42 year old), a man fleeing the implementation of a total imprisonment sentence of 155 years. The sources indicated that some 103 persons were killed in the last five years because of attacks of this group because of the hostilities between Awlad Hanafi and Sabbaq family in the same area.
